About INR to USD Converter

Convert Indian rupees to US dollars at the latest daily reference rate from exchangerate-api.com, with the date of the rate shown. Type a rupee amount with Indian commas, such as 1,50,000, and see the dollar value as you type. Small amounts keep enough decimals to be useful, so ₹1 shows as a fraction of a dollar rather than $0.00. Useful for freelance invoices, course fees and online shopping; banks and cards use their own rates and charges.

How to Use

1

Type the rupee amount

Indian rupee and US dollar are already chosen. Type the amount in Amount; commas in lakh style, such as 2,50,000, are fine.

2

Read the dollar value

The dollar amount appears on the right as you type. The rate line shows 1 INR in dollars and 1 USD in rupees, and the note gives the date of the rate.

3

Copy it or swap

Copy result copies the number without the $ sign, ready to paste into an invoice or spreadsheet. Swap currencies turns it into dollars to rupees.

Privacy & Processing

  • Mode: connected
  • Files Leave Browser: Selected data may be sent to a service or peer
  • Max Input Size: API dependent
  • Account Required: No
  • Data Stored Locally: The latest rates table is saved in this browser so the page loads fast. If you change the currencies, that pair is saved too. Clear the site data to remove them.

The page downloads one daily table of US dollar rates from api.exchangerate-api.com. Your amounts and currency choices are never sent; the conversion happens in your browser.

Rules & Limitations

  • Rates are daily reference rates from exchangerate-api.com, updated once a day. Your bank, card or payment platform will use its own rate and may add fees.
  • Rates are saved in this browser for up to six hours. Offline, the last saved rates are shown with a warning; a first visit needs an internet connection.
  • Amounts under 1 are shown to three significant digits, for example $0.0112, so results are not rounded to zero.

INR to USD Converter FAQ

How many dollars is 1 lakh rupees?

Type 1,00,000 in Amount to see it at today's reference rate; the table under the result also shows ₹1, ₹10, ₹100 and so on up to ₹1,00,000 in dollars. The rate date is shown in the note.

How do I put a dollar price on my invoice from a rupee amount?

Type the rupee amount, then press Copy result to copy the dollar figure as a plain number. Paste it into your invoice, for example in the Invoice Generator, and mention the rate date if your client wants it.

Why does a small rupee amount show several decimals in dollars?

One rupee is only a small part of a dollar, so amounts under 1 keep three significant digits instead of rounding to $0.00. Larger amounts use the usual two decimals.

Will my card charge this rate for a purchase in dollars?

Usually not. Card networks convert at their own rate, and Indian banks typically add a foreign currency markup with GST on it, so the rupees you pay are a little more than this tool shows.

Is the rupee amount I type sent to a server?

No. The page fetches one table of daily rates from exchangerate-api.com and does the maths in your browser, so the amounts you type stay on your device.
