About Wi-Fi QR Code Generator

Make a QR code that connects a phone to your Wi-Fi network when it is scanned, so guests, customers or staff never have to type a long password. Enter the network name, security type and password, style the code and download it to print or show on a screen. It works with the camera app on iPhones and most Android phones. The code is made in your browser, so your Wi-Fi password is never sent anywhere.

How to Use

1

Enter the network details

Type the Network name (SSID) exactly as it appears on your phone, including capitals, and choose the Security type: "WPA / WPA2 / WPA3" for most routers, WEP for very old ones, or "No password" for an open network. The Wi-Fi tab is already selected.

2

Type the password

Enter the Wi-Fi password in Password. It is shown as you type, so make sure no one is watching your screen. Tick "Hidden network" if your network does not broadcast its name.

3

Style and label it

Pick colours and shapes under Style, add a logo if you like, and fill in "Code label" to name the downloaded file.

4

Download and test

Click Download PNG, or SVG for sharp printing. Scan it with your own phone and check that it joins before you put it up.

Privacy & Processing

  • Files Leave Browser: Local tool processing; review details below
  • Max Input Size: Device memory limits
  • Account Required: No
  • Data Stored Locally: Nothing is saved, including your password. Download your code before leaving the page.

The QR code is made in your browser. Your network name and password are never sent to a server.

Rules & Limitations

  • The password is stored inside the code. Anyone who scans or photographs it can read it, so only display it where you would share the password anyway.
  • If you change the Wi-Fi password or network name, the old code stops working. Make and print a new one.
  • The name and password must match exactly, including capital letters and spaces. Special characters such as ; , : and " are handled for you.

Wi-Fi QR Code Generator FAQ

How do I make a QR code for my Wi-Fi password?

Type your Network name (SSID), choose the Security type, enter the Password and click Download PNG. When someone scans the code with their phone camera, the phone offers to join the network without typing the password.

Does a Wi-Fi QR code work on iPhone?

Yes. The iPhone Camera app reads Wi-Fi QR codes and shows a prompt to join the network. Most Android phones do the same through the camera, Google Lens or the QR scanner in Quick Settings.

Which security type should I choose?

Choose "WPA / WPA2 / WPA3" for almost every modern router. Pick WEP only if your router uses that old standard, and "No password" for an open network. You can see the type in your router settings or in your phone's Wi-Fi details.

Is it safe to share Wi-Fi with a QR code?

It is as safe as telling someone the password, because the password is inside the code and some scanner apps display it. For customers and visitors, a separate guest network on your router keeps your main network private.

Does a Wi-Fi QR code expire?

No. The network details are stored in the code itself, so it keeps working for as long as the network name and password stay the same.
