About Compress Image to 20 KB

Get a photo, signature or thumb impression under 20 KB for an online form. The page opens with "Limit the file size" on, Max KB set to 20 and JPG as the format. 20 KB is small, so it suits signatures, thumb impressions and small passport-style photos. A large photo starts at most 1000 px on its longer side, while a smaller one keeps its size. The tool lowers the JPG quality first and makes the picture smaller only if it has to, and you see the exact size before you download. Everything runs in your browser.

How to Use

1

Add the photo or signature

Drop, choose or paste a JPG, PNG or WebP image. Use Rotate left or Rotate right if a scanned signature is sideways.

2

Check the size in pixels

Width and Height are filled in for you, with the longer side at most 1000 px. For a sharper result at 20 KB, type a smaller Width, such as 300 to 500 px; with "Keep proportions" on, the height follows. Or pick a form preset such as "IBPS / SBI signature".

3

Add a minimum if the form has one

Many forms ask for 10–20 KB. Type 10 in Min KB and the tool keeps the file between the two limits.

4

Check the Result and download

The Result panel shows the size in pixels and KB, the JPG quality used and a chip such as "Under 20 KB". Click Download.

Rules & Limitations

  • If a photo will not fit even at the lowest quality (40%), the tool makes it smaller and says "Made smaller than … to stay under 20 KB". If it still cannot fit, you see "Couldn't get under 20 KB"; type a smaller width and height.
  • Max KB 20 means at most 20,000 bytes, so the file passes whether a site counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. The Result shows sizes in units of 1,024 bytes, so a file at the limit can read "19.5 KB".
  • PNG has no quality setting, so its size is only checked, not reduced. Keep the format on JPG (or WebP) for a 20 KB limit.
  • Detailed photos lose sharpness at 20 KB. Crop close to the face or the signature so the pixels you keep are the ones that matter.

Compress Image to 20 KB FAQ

How do I reduce a signature to under 20 KB?

Sign in black ink on white paper, photograph or scan it, and add the picture here. Type a small width such as 300 px, or turn off "Keep proportions" and drag the crop box to crop it tightly. The Result shows the size and "Under 20 KB" when it fits. For IBPS and SBI, the "IBPS / SBI signature" preset sets 140 × 60 px and 10–20 KB.

How do I make a photo between 10 KB and 20 KB?

Leave Max KB at 20 and type 10 in Min KB. The tool picks the highest quality that stays under 20 KB. If the file is still under 10 KB at full quality, it adds empty padding to reach the minimum; the picture itself is not changed.

Why is my photo smaller in pixels after compressing to 20 KB?

A large photo starts at 1000 px on its longer side, and a detailed picture of that size can be over 20 KB even at 40% quality. The tool then reduces the width and height until it fits and tells you so. Typing a smaller width yourself, such as 400 px, or cropping to just your face gives a better result.

Can I compress a PNG to 20 KB?

Not as a PNG, because PNG has no quality setting to lower. You can add a PNG and save it as JPG, which is how the page opens, and the tool fits it under 20 KB. Transparent areas are filled with the Background colour, white by default.

Is my signature uploaded to a server?

No. Resizing and compression run in your browser, so your signature and photo never leave your device.
