About Passport Size Photo Maker

Make a passport size photo from any picture on your phone or computer. The page opens with the "Passport photo (35 × 45 mm)" preset, which sets the size in mm at 300 DPI, so the file comes out at 413 × 531 px and prints at 35 × 45 mm. You drag a crop box to frame your face, see the result straight away and download a JPG. For US passports and visas, switch to the 2 × 2 inch preset. Nothing is uploaded.

How to Use

1

Add your photo

Drop, choose or paste a clear, front-facing photo taken against a plain light wall. Use Rotate left or Rotate right if it is sideways.

2

Frame your face

Drag the crop box so your face is centred with a little space above the head, and use Zoom to bring it closer. The box keeps the 35 × 45 mm shape.

3

Switch size or set a file limit if needed

For the US, choose "US passport / visa (2 × 2 in)" in Preset: 600 × 600 px, JPG, up to 240 KB. If a visa site gives a KB limit, turn on "Limit the file size" and enter it.

4

Download and print

Click Download. The file is saved at 300 DPI, so software that uses the saved DPI prints it at 35 × 45 mm; at a photo shop, ask for 3.5 × 4.5 cm prints.

Rules & Limitations

  • The tool sets the size and crop only. It does not check head size, expression or lighting, and it does not change the background; follow the rules of the office you are applying to.
  • It makes one photo per file, not a printable sheet of several copies.
  • For an Indian passport, the photo is normally taken at the Passport Seva Kendra during your appointment, so you may not need to bring one. Visa applications and other forms often do ask for one.
  • Camera details and GPS location (EXIF) are not copied into the downloaded photo.

35 × 45 mm is 413 × 531 px at 300 DPI, which is what this page makes. The pixel size changes with the DPI: at 200 DPI the same 35 × 45 mm is 276 × 354 px. The page shows the pixel size under the width and height.

How do I make a passport size photo on my phone?

Is 3.5 × 4.5 cm the same as 35 × 45 mm?

Yes. 3.5 × 4.5 cm and 35 × 45 mm are the same passport size. You can switch the Unit to cm, px or inch and the width and height are converted for you.

How do I make a 2 × 2 inch photo for a US visa?

Switch the Preset to "US passport / visa (2 × 2 in)". It sets 600 × 600 px at 300 DPI, JPG, and keeps the file under 240 KB. Frame your face with the crop box and download.
