About PDF to PNG

Save every page of a PDF as a PNG image. PNG is lossless, so small text, tables, diagrams and thin lines stay perfectly crisp, which suits slides, notes, documentation and screenshots. Each page is drawn 1240 pixels wide, about 150 DPI for an A4 page, on a white background, and named like report-page-01.png; a PDF with several pages downloads as one ZIP. PNG is already selected, and you can switch to JPEG for smaller files.

How to Use

1

Add your PDF

Drop one or more PDFs on the page, paste them with Ctrl+V, or click Choose PDFs.

2

Check the format

PNG is already selected under Format. Switch to JPEG if you need smaller files, for example for an upload form.

3

Convert and download

Press Convert to images. A one-page PDF gives a single PNG; longer PDFs give a ZIP such as report-pages-png.zip. Open "Show the files" to save single pages.

Rules & Limitations

  • Pages are drawn on a white background, so the PNGs have no transparent areas.
  • PNG files are much larger than JPG, especially for scanned or photo-heavy pages. Use JPEG when size matters more than sharpness.
  • Images are always 1240 pixels wide, with the height following the page shape (1240 × 1754 for A4). Every page is converted; there is no page range or resolution setting.
  • Up to 100 MB per PDF. A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be converted.

PDF to PNG FAQ

How do I convert a PDF to PNG?

Add the PDF; PNG is already selected under Format. Press Convert to images and click Download. Each page becomes its own PNG, and several pages come together in a ZIP.

Is PNG better than JPG for PDF pages?

For text, tables and drawings, yes: PNG is lossless, so edges stay sharp with no blur around letters. JPG is far smaller and fine for scans and photos, so pick it when file size matters.

Do the PNG images have a transparent background?

No. Each page is drawn on white before it is saved, just as it looks in a PDF reader, so blank areas of the page are white rather than transparent.

Why are my PNG files so large?

PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which takes more space than JPG, especially for scanned pages and photos. Switch Format to JPEG, or shrink the PNGs afterwards with the Image Compressor.

Can I get higher resolution PNGs from a PDF?

Not with this tool: every page is drawn 1240 pixels wide, about 150 DPI for A4. That is sharp on screen and in slides, but may not be enough for large prints.
