About Watermark PDF

Stamp a text watermark such as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT or COPY across every page of a PDF. The text is set in bold grey letters at 25% opacity, running diagonally through the middle of each page and sized to fit, so the content underneath stays readable. Type up to 80 characters of your own and watermark several PDFs at once. The rest of each PDF is left as it was.

How to Use

Enter the watermark text

In Watermark text, type what to stamp, up to 80 characters. It starts as CONFIDENTIAL. Use English letters, numbers and common symbols.

Add the watermark

Press Add watermark, then click Download to save the file named like report-watermarked.pdf, or Download all (ZIP) for several.

Rules & Limitations

Latin letters, digits and common symbols only. Hindi text or the ₹ sign is refused, and the message lists the characters to remove.
The look is fixed: one line of grey text at 45°, 25% opacity, in the centre of each page. You cannot add a logo or image, or change the colour or position.
The watermark is ordinary text added over the page, so it discourages misuse, but someone with a PDF editor could remove it.
PDFs that need a password or are encrypted cannot be watermarked. Up to 100 MB per PDF.

How do I add a watermark to a PDF?

Add the PDF, type your text in Watermark text, press Add watermark and Download. The text appears diagonally across the middle of every page.

How do I watermark an Aadhaar or PAN card PDF before sharing it?

Add the PDF and type the purpose and date in Watermark text, for example "Only for SBI KYC 12-11-2026". The text runs across the card, so the copy is harder to reuse for anything else.

Can I add a logo or image as a watermark?

No, this tool stamps text only. To put a logo on photos or scanned images, use the Image Watermark Tool, which also has an ID copy preset.

Can I change the position, colour or transparency of the watermark?

No. The watermark is always grey, 25% opaque and diagonal through the centre of the page. Its size adjusts to the page, and long text is made smaller so it fits.

Can I write the watermark in Hindi?

No. The built-in PDF font covers Latin letters, digits and common symbols only, so Devanagari and symbols such as ₹ cannot be used. Write the watermark in English instead.

Can a PDF watermark be removed?

With a PDF editor, yes, because it is added as text. For a copy where it is harder to remove, convert the watermarked PDF to images with PDF → Images and back with Images → PDF; the text then can no longer be selected.
